What Is The Tapestry Project?

You’ll use the old rubble of past lives to build anew, rebuild the foundations from out of your past. You’ll be known as those who can fix anything, restore old ruins, rebuild and renovate, make the community livable again.
- Isaiah 58

The Tapestry Project is an organization that is revitalizing a deteriorating neighborhood through renovation, restoration, and connecting people in need to the resources that will equip them to thrive as a community. The vision is to create model for urban development and community transformation for women, children and families in crisis all across Oklahoma City.

Currently, the urban development project is taking place in a neighborhood located at SW 29th St. and Portland. Renovation efforts are underway and the neighborhood is hopeful for the first time in several years. We have been placing several moms and their children in our apartments. The women are involved in a monthly community meeting, which involves accountability, mentoring, parenting, encouragement, and providing of resources. We are currently involved in a bi-monthly outreach within the neighborhood that provides lunch to the community, games and activities for families, and resources for those in need.
